Progressive Web Apps Content Track

PWAs are my personal passion when it comes to Software Engineering. The PWA is the perfect choice for most clients, and we need to build this modern requirement. In fact, most native development for iOS and Android could be done by a single codebase and delivered additionally on the web or even PC / Mac desktops.

As a CTO, state-certified engineer, media technician, and entrepreneur, I find the idea of the PWA overwhelmingly good. It serves on the entire business vertical of strategic, tactical, and operational levels as the gem of technology, elevating the entire business like no other tech can.

The reason is quite simple, we are talking about the following:

  • PWAs are based on open web technologies

  • PWAs (or HSWAs) are supported on all major platforms

  • PWAs are accessible via a browser, which is a part of nearly every device today

  • PWAs are discoverable without the need for an app store

  • PWAs can be pushed into app stores optionally

  • PWAs ecosystem is large since it’s based on web technologies, whether vanilla, react, or anything else used for modern frontend development.

  • PWAs are adopted by large enterprises such as Spotify, Airbnb, Starbucks, Uber, Twitter, Telegram, and Pinterest, as well as fancy tools like Streamyard.

  • PWAs underlying technologies are used in software like Microsoft Teams or Google Mail.

  • PWAs can include Web Assembly and WebGL, which will overcome the performance gap between native and web. Example: Canva

  • PWAs are just one codebase running on ALL devices with browsers or WebView support.

🍀 How can you not love this idea?

Persisting data in modern Web-Apps

It wasn't long ago when cookies were the only viable option to store data persistently in the browser. Speaking of cookies, we talk about a limited string of characters representing the storage capabilities for quite a long time. But technology has evolved, and so have the browsers. As a result, today's options to temporarily store data or persist in the browser are far better than some years ago and will eventually become useful for application development.
